We are VERY excited to announce that the Bread Line was nominated & chosen to be a recipient for Renewable Energy Systems‘ (RES) downtown Solar Pledge commitment! This incredible donation is made possible by both RES & the Alaska Center’s Solarize Fairbanks project after working for more than 3 months with local grant writers & national energy democracy experts to determine the best process for this community lift.

Fairbanks chose five buildings to receive solar installations, by the consensus of the solarizing community – installation is scheduled for 2022!

Going solar is an exciting opportunity that had long been a dream for the Bread Line, but was never in the budget. This donation will lower our electricity costs, helping us do more anti-hunger work. The Bread Line’s downtown building has a large, south facing roof & we are excited to show Fairbanks how solar can be done in our subarctic climate. The gift of solar power is going to make a big difference in our work.

Thank you to everyone who nominated the Bread Line & voted for us. Our gratitude goes out to the hard working organizers at Solarize Fairbanks who are making this project happen & to the good folks at RES for donating their resources, time & talents to making Fairbanks a greener place.
