A wonderful group of Golden Valley Electric Association volunteers weeded, planted, cleaned up the garden shed & watered at the Stone Soup Cafe’s Community Garden back in late June. It’s because of amazing community helpers like these that our little community garden is growing so beautifully! Even after a slow spring, the garden is right on track & producing some amazing veg.
The Stone Soup Cafe Community Garden grows fresh vegetables for use in the Stone Soup Cafe soup kitchen as well as providing much-needed food relief to Fairbanksans experiencing food insecurity. Our garden has even been providing fresh green to the Senior Center & hopes to begin a similar program with another downtown assisted living facility soon.
We are SO grateful to ALL the volunteers who show up & take care of business at the garden – thank you for everything you do to build a better community together.
