Bread Line

Rasmuson Foundation Award

The Rasmuson Foundation board of directors has approved $1 million in grants to help meet rising food insecurity this winter. This incredible generosity comes at a time of heightened need – our enormous gratitude to the Rasmuson Foundation for helping Alaskans in an immediate, tangible & accessible way. This is what leadership from the heart looks like.

Anti-hunger organizations across Alaska have seen a staggering increase in community need due to rising grocery prices, reduced benefits, the federal shutdown & displacement from Typhoon Halong. This funding will help replenish emergency supplies & support the distribution of more than a million meals.

This grant is divided between: Bean’s Cafe ($50,000); Bethel Community Services Foundation ($250,000); Bread Line Inc. ($50,000); Food Bank of Alaska ($400,000); Fairbanks Community Food Bank ($200,000); & Southeast Food Bank in Juneau ($50,000).

Gretchen Guess, president & CEO of Rasmuson Foundation said, “Especially as the holidays approach, we are thankful for these partners & their ability & willingness to quickly meet the moment… This collaboration reflects the way Alaskans come together to help each other. Our most meaningful impact happens through the relationships we have with our partners.”

We are thankful to be chosen as stewards of these funds & are eager to keep “feeding people & affirming lives” with the help of the Rasmuson Foundation.
