Bread Line

Thank you Carpenters Union Local 1243!

A group of ten smiling people - three Bread Line board members, six carpenters from the Local 1243 & Chef Matt - stand behind the Bread Line with an oversized check for $5,000.

Labor Day’s volunteers included 3 board members (left) & 6 union carpenters from the Local 1243. Local 1243 carpenters volunteer at the soup kitchen often, mostly on union holidays. They also rebuilt the shelves in our storage shed & have been steady donors to the Bread Line’s anti-hunger programs. This Labor Day, they also presented Bread Line staff (Chef Matt, right) with a $5,000 donation. Their enormously generous gift will go a long way in feeding Fairbanks.

“We’re a community organization and take a lot of pride in what we do in the community,” said Liam Ward, the union’s president. “If we see a need like this, we do whatever we can to try & address it.”

This kind of commUNITY is exactly what gets the job done. We are so grateful for the lift that the Carpenters Union gives.
