It’s that time again: Alaskans everywhere are filing for their 2023 PFD! This year, please consider including the Bread Line (Stone Soup) when you Pick Click Give – donations like yours make the Bread Line’s anti-hunger work possible.

The Bread Line operates four anti-hunger programs that feed those in need while providing paths to self-sufficiency: Stone Soup Cafe provides tens of thousands of nutritious meals every year to Fairbanks’ hungry neighbors; our Stone’s Throw culinary job training program empowers people with barriers to employment by teaching job and life skills in an intensive professional class; during the summer, our the Stone Soup Community Garden grows healthy vegetables and provides fresh greens to several other service organizations; & – once a month through the winter – we host a Kid’s Cafe, where local families help prepare food for the following week and talk about the importance of community caring.

All funds that come to the Bread Line through Pick.Click.Give. are designated for operations – the things that are critical to our services. Your donation helps purchase food and supplies, fuel oil and electricity – everything that keeps our doors open and the dining room warm five days a week, every week of the year.

Though the generosity of Alaskans, the Bread Line is a low-barrier organization which provides good food for anyone who is hungry, without question. Our guests include people who are homeless or housing insecure, some struggling with untreated mental illnesses, traumatic brain injuries or chronic substance use disorders. We also feed low-income individuals and those who have suffered a devastating loss that left them without food security. Some we serve have been released from incarceration back into poverty. There are seniors who come here who make daily choices between bills and food. Everyone is welcome at the Bread Line. Our unofficial motto is “love all, serve all” and – with your help – we do.When you Pick Click Give this year, please include the Bread Line in your donations – thank you!
