During the school year, many children receive free and reduced-price meals through their school lunch programs. However, when the school year ends food insecurity remains. The Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is a federal resource that helps alleviate hunger by making meals accessible to all children.
For the second year in a row, the Bread Line is proud to partner with the Literacy Council of Alaska to provide hot, nutritious meals – and activity program – through the SFSP. From our kitchen, Chef Liann prepares well-rounded, healthy meals that are still kid-friendly. Those meals are served by the LCA’s after school program coordinator, Shauna, and her amazing team at Birch Park.
If you know a child who faces hunger – please contact us for more information about the Summer Food Service Program.
We are offering free meals Monday-Friday through August 11th.
