Are you searching for volunteer opportunities this holiday season?  The Bread Line is wrapping gifts for donations at the Bentley Mall to raise money for our programs!  After more than two decades of running this fundraiser, the Midnight Sun Lions Club (MSLC) has handed this opportunity to the Bread Line and we are very excited about it.

Many people want to volunteer with us during the holidays – but our little soup kitchen can only hold so many!  This is an excellent opportunity for families, work groups, community organizations – anyone – who wants to help us during the holiday.

The gift wrap booth will be open in the two weeks before Christmas:  Tuesday December 13th to Monday December 24th at the Bentley Mall.

The hours are: Mon-Sat, 10am – 9pm and Sun, 11am – 7pm.

If you sign up to volunteer at the booth, you can earn donations for the Bread Line.  Supporting the Bread Line during the holiday season helps our anti-hunger programs all year round.

How it works:

  • We will have a sign in sheet where volunteers write their names, hours worked and which organization they want their time to benefit (one cause per shift).
  • We will tally the grand total of hours worked and figure out what percentage of time each organization had volunteers working.
  • For example, let’s say volunteers worked a total of 1,000 hours and 500 were marked to benefit the Bread Line.  Because volunteers worked 50% of the total time for Bread Line, our organization would be entitled to 50% of the net proceeds.  Total donations have ranged from $4,000 – $8,000 in the years past.

Would you volunteer a few hours to wrap gifts and earn a donation for the Bread Line?  Bring friends and family – everyone interested in helping us – and sign up here to claim your shift!

Thank you for making our work possible.
